Throughout centuries, countless methods of raising children have been worked out and have remained in history. The "Spartan education" is very famous - meaning punishing the pupil physically. The civilized world has agreed that physical punishment leaves a psychological trauma on a child in any case, so it has been ruled out as an acceptable form.
