A large part of the society has developed a mistrust for information sources today. Evaluate the views and news that revolve around you every day - how comprehensible or one-sided are they? Excluding the factual evidence, audiences can feel the bias that the news media around the globe are operating with. The consequence of this is that people just stop reading and looking at the news.
News with context, separation of facts and interpretations, values, arguments, counter-arguments, and counter-counter-arguments. The world around us is not only black or white. Everything can be criticized and seen differently, it’s all a matter of perspective. - We provide both the good and the bad news - our world has an abundance of both. There is no wishful optimism or forced pessimism when it comes to the news on our website - there is only objective realism. - A unique interface to receive information, give feedback and enrich our community.
We sell the opportunity to see through the world using various prisms, or to have it unfiltered and raw. The opportunity to get arguments & facts to strengthen your position, or to challenge it. Every person is born with the freedom of choice. You are entitled to it.
You may lose your obliviousness to the issues that plague our society today.
We are an international platform, so our ambition is to touch as many countries as we can. We are currently based in Georgia and Israel and are operating in four languages: English (the most actively), Hebrew, Georgian and Russian. We find that bringing an international perspective from as many countries to as many countries as possible is very important.
We write more than “just news”. We provide perspectives on social trends, insights on the well-being of people, and facilitate public discussions.
The important ones. The global news that may have a local resonance with our readers, or the local news that may have an echo in the global context. We don’t guarantee to provide all the news, but what we do provide will be studied closely and shown from different perspectives. Quality over quantity, we say.
Yes, completely free.
The thing is, nowadays, you can never be 100 % sure that any source is reliable. In our articles, we distinguish facts & news vs. possible interpretations, the ThroughTheNews’ look, our readers’ look etc. We promise our readers to do the best we can to provide as many reliable sources, proofs, and arguments as possible, and if you think something’s wrong - you can always tell us! We are more than happy to take into consideration your feedback.
Yes, in a way, as we consider every article as a result of teamwork, even if it’s signed eventually by its primary author. We always accept challenges and questions and corrections to any of our items, sometimes it results in an update of the original article, and sometimes it can be done in our upcoming “Reflection on reflection” section which provides room for reaction articles that will reflect and potentially contradict something said in an article.
ThroughTheNews is first and foremost a social project - call it a not-for-profit, if you will. Our aim is to reach people and help them get the media material they’re interested in and that touches all parts of society. We are a social start-up.
